Canvas ('Tech' Zachary) Mac OS

Depending on what resources you use from off-campus, you may need to “connect” to the UMKC network via a Virtual Private Network (VPN). The most common need for this is accessing network shares, such as the N and Q drives, and specific webpages. Items such as E-mail, Box, Canvas, etc. will all function without the use of a VPN.

There are a few ways to connect from off-campus, which vary based on the type of computer you use to connect.

Windows computers have 3 options to connect to campus:

Canvas For best performance, Canvas should be used on the current or first previous major release of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari. Because it's built using web standards, Canvas runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, or any other device with a modern web browser. 午前8時から午後9時まで(年中無休) 横浜市コールセンター 電話番号:045-664-2525. Mac OS: Go to DataLink Connect Preferences Gradebook. If you didn't download the custom version of the DataLink software for Virginia Tech, the option to export to Canvas won't appear! Click Instructure Canvas OK. Click Gradebook Export. The Canvas Export window will appear. Select the destination folder and click Save. Upload to Canvas. Canvas is UB’s online classroom, where faculty and students connect with each other virtually. Every course – both online and on-campus - has a shell in Canvas that can be used for teaching & learning.

  • Direct Access. Built into Windows and will automatically connect when you are logged in using a UMKC computer. No action is needed to use this but if you have any issues connecting to UMKC resources please use one of the below VPN options.
  • Global Protect VPN. Installed by default on UMKC computers but you’ll need to manually connect. Instructions and more info can be found here: https://www.umkc.edu/is/support/services/vpn/Windows/.
  • UMKC G6 VPN. Older versions of VPN that may still be installed on your computer. This will continue to work but Global Protect has many advantages in terms of speed and reliability.

Mac OS only has 1 supported VPN client, Global Protect VPN. This is installed by default on UMKC computers, but there are manual steps you need to follow to connect. Instructions and more info can be found here: https://www.umkc.edu/is/support/services/vpn/mac/.

You can also connect from Apple and Android mobile devices. More information about connecting with these devices can be found here:
